In St. Gabriel’s we have a comprehensive music policy whereby the children experience each strand of the curriculum; listening and responding, performing and composing in an enjoyable, comprehendible manner.
We have a room designated to music and drama where there is a plentiful supply of percussion instruments for the children to engage with. In addition to music lessons taught by the class teacher a qualified music teacher provides expertise in choir, keyboard and guitar. The school choir performs annually for local events such as The Lighting of the Christmas Tree, School Confirmation, fundraising and school concerts.
Children also learn keyboard and guitar skill. we link with the Music Department in Kylemore College for weekly music lesson and an annual concert.
For the children from Junior Infants – 1st the children benefit from a 30 minute lessons which are given by a qualified music teacher.
